It is a tragic tale of lifelong sweethearts being torn apart by fate, and the Knit the City spider.
Lord and Lady Lovebug had been promised to each other from birth, a whole 2 days before the tragedy. On this fateful day, Lady Lovebug fancied a bit of urban culture and dragged a rather uninterested, but love sick, Lord Lovebug to the Leake Street graffiti tunnel to witness the art of the spray can. Little did she know that she would meet her premature end (she wasn’t scheduled to die for another 2 days: 4 days being the average life span for a love bug).
So engrossed was she in the brilliance of the graffiti, she did not notice that whacking great big spider’s web that the Knit the City spider had spun, and flew right into its sticky threads.
Distraught by Lady Lovebug’s screams to help her, Lord Lovebug set about pulling her free. But it was all in vain! Lady Lovebug was stuck, and would make a rather tasty snack for a certain hungry arachnid.
As they shared their final kiss, the tunnel shed a tear for the soul mates, so tragically torn from each other’s sides.
Lady Lovebug leaves 100,000 baby love bugs, who were being looked after by Nanny Lovebug at Lovebug Mansions, Chelsea.
